Ghost stories surround death of Belle Starr

In February 1889, Belle Starr was shot and killed as she rode toward her home at Younger’s Bend on the Canadian River. That same year a story began circulating about folks in the area seeing a ghost in the exact likeness of the Bandit Queen. The ghost reportedly would wander through the hills around Younger’s Bend on moonlit nights.
